The Brigitte Trust is an independent registered charity offering emotional, practical, and social support to people living in Surrey and struggling with life-limiting illnesses. The service, which has been available since 1984, is free of charge and our volunteers help in many ways, providing:
> Emotional support and someone to listen
> Giving a family member or carer some time to themselves
> Transportation to hospital appointments, shops, garden centres, etc.
> Bereavement support
Our volunteers typically provide support for three hours per week, but this is flexible according to the needs of the client. In providing emotional support, our volunteers will be sensitive to the individual and cultural needs of each person supported, with confidentiality maintained and respected.
Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds. All are required to attend an intensive initial training course as well as monthly supervision and ongoing training. All volunteers have undergone full DBS checks.
