Brindle for Westfield

Shelley Brindle knows how to bring people together to get good things done. As the first woman in the executive suite at HBO, she fostered innovation & collaboration to drive exceptional results during a time of marked disruption in her industry. She led HBO through its digital transformation while achieving the company’s best subscriber performance in 3 decades. She left HBO last year to found Brindle & Associates, a media and leadership consulting firm, & pursue work in the nonprofit & public service sectors that reflect what she values most: empowering people to affect positive change and transformation. That mission is why Shelley is running for Mayor of Westfield. In 1994, Shelley & her husband Kip moved to Westfield, eventually settling on Fairmont Avenue in the Second Ward. “I felt we’d found home – a modern town with traditional values. Neighbors looking out for neighbors, wholesome options for kids, a thriving city center, & town leaders working with the community to preserve and enhance what we have,” remembers Shelley. “Increasingly, much of these seem at risk, with more ‘For Rent’ signs appearing downtown.” Detecting signs of complacency in Westfield’s long-serving government reminiscent of what she witnessed in the corporate world, she notes: “When people have been in the same jobs for too long, the ability to imagine fresh approaches diminishes” She believes in the transformational power of transparency to unleash innovation and to hold elected officials accountable. “If I’m elected, I will proactively solicit input from all residents using every communication tool available. We need to harness the collective ideas from all of our citizens to reimagine what is possible.” She is eager & passionate about translating her experience into public service. As she puts it: “I said to myself: I have the skills, I have the time, and I want to get to work for the people of Westfield. What better way than to channel this energy into the Mayor’s office?”
