About Broadcast Educational Media Commission

The State of Ohio created the Broadcast Educational Media Commission in July 2013 as an independent agency to advance education and accelerate the learning of the citizens of this state through public educational broadcasting services. Specifically, the Commission: • provides leadership and support in extending the knowledge of the citizens of this state by promoting access to and use of educational broadcasting services, including educational television and radio, and radio reading services; • administers programs to provide financial and other assistance to educational television and radio and radio reading services. Mission The Broadcast Educational Media Commission seeks to expand the knowledge of Ohio’s citizens through promotion of educational broadcasting products, funding of the state’s public broadcast affiliates and organizations, and collaboration with stakeholders and advocates of technology-driven education.
