Brooklyn Tech Student Government Organization

Brooklyn Tech Student Government Organization company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Student Government Organization, popularly referred to as the SGO, works towards creating a more welcoming, vibrant, and respectful environment at Brooklyn Technical High School. The organization oversees the administration of 200+ clubs and afterschool activities in the school through the Club-Team Council (CTC) branch, the budgeting process for clubs and teams through the Committee on Money Management and Allocation (COMMA), the planning of the majority of the events at the school through Student Leadership, the inclusion of student opinion in administration through Student Assembly and monthly Town Halls, the work towards a more respectful culture at Brooklyn Tech through the school Culture Committee, and much more. The Executive Council is the center of affairs for the organization. Each class (Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior) is assigned five class council members: the Class President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian. Each of these officers are voting members of the Executive Council and vote to approve the overall club budgets, applications, and proposals from students in and out of the SGO. They also work with their respective grade-level Student Leadership to plan all of the events from their class, all the way to Graduation. Maintaining the everyday affairs of the Executive Council and overseeing numerous branches are the Special Executives. These officers are not granted voting power in order to maintain a balance of power between the grade levels, but they lead the Executive Council in their own respective positions, manage their respective branches, give a weekly report to the Executive council, and also assist their grade-level Class Council and Student Leadership if necessary. The officers who are considered to be Special Executives include the SGO President, Vice-President, Secretary, Press Secretary, Student Advocate, and Student Assembly Speaker.
