Brothers Breaking B.R.E.A.D.

Brothers Breaking B.R.E.A.D. (BBB) is a student organization founded at the University of Southern California. “B.R.E.A.D.” is an acronym that stands for Barriers, Regrets, Egos, Animosity, and Doubt. The organization is designed to congregate and empower self-identified Black men who oftentimes have no place for brotherly fellowship. BBB also acts as a hub for Black male excellence, presenting its members with professional development opportunities and to be community servants and active volunteers. The ultimate mission of the organization is “the reframing and restructuring of Black masculinity to the benefit of all black people” as stated by the late former Co-President Victor McElhaney. BBB hopes to repair issues that arise in the Black community such as, but not limited to hyper-masculinity, misogynoir, and homophobia. BBB molds the leadership attributes of its members to ensure they recognize they can follow their dreams regardless of how they are characterized by society. This organization was curated to be a space of vulnerability where individuals can be open about their experiences and freely share their thoughts. Through building professional and leadership skills while breaking down stereotypes and stigmas, Brothers Breaking B.R.E.A.D. hopes to be a permanent entity across California.
