Brown McFarlane holds stock of steel plates in specifications which include many that are difficult to find from general steel stockholders such as duplex and super duplex stainless steel, ultra high yield quenched and tempered steel, hydrogen induced crack (HIC) resistant pressure vessel steel, and chrome molybdenum steel.
Plates are available ex-stock from 3 mm to 200 mm thick, up to 14,000 mm long, and up to 4,000 mm wide.In order to satisfy the stringent demands of its clients Brown McFarlane plates are purchased to include many valuable additions to the standard steel specifications such as restricted chemistry, low carbon equivalent values, impact testing, and ultrasonic testing. All plates are fully certified by the manufacturer and every plate is supplied along with its own unique test certificate.
Since the introduction of its first profiling machine in the 1970s, Brown McFarlane has developed a full range of value added services in addition to the cutting of steel enabling the customer to buy semi-finished component pieces rather than just plate. It is possible to process plates up to 400 mm thick and weighing up to 20 tonnes.
