At BSG Robotics, our Core Mission is to inspire and cultivate the next generation of engineers and innovators. We are an all-girls robotics, engineering, and STEM outreach club dedicated to empowering young women in the tech and engineering sectors.
Founded in 2022, our club comprises three dynamic teams of students aged 12 to 17, supported by passionate staff volunteers and Sixth Form student mentors. We meet three times a week in our state-of-the-art design technology department to design, build, and program robots.
We proudly participate in the FIRST® Tech Challenge, the world’s largest STEM competition for students. Competing in the UK Competition, we excel at regional events and strive to win prestigious awards at the FIRST® Tech Challenge UK National Competition held annually.
As an official FIRST Southwest UK Champion Organisation, we play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive regional network. We support around 30 teams in our region. We host the South West Regional robotic game field and organise several events throughout the season to enhance the experiences of local clubs.
Our commitment to FIRST UK goes beyond robotics. We embrace the #morethanrobots ethos, promoting student participation in community work, including STEM outreach, mentorship, and environmental initiatives. Through our efforts, we aim to instill a culture of ambition and altruism, empowering students to make positive changes in their communities and the world.
2024 Highlights:
Inspiring Wins: Team Ultraviolet won the FIRST Tech Challenge UK National Inspire Award 2024, showcasing our innovation and community impact.
National Recognition: Our mentor received the Compass Award 2024, highlighting exceptional leadership and dedication.
UK's first ever FIRST Global Gold Award Winners.
Expanding Outreach: Our UVRAISE program reached new heights, conducting STEM workshops for primary schools and mentoring other FIRST teams.
