Toronto Buccaneers Rugby Club

The Toronto Buccaneers Rugby Club are a member in the Toronto Rugby Union. Established in 1976, the club has a long standing tradition of playing hard, competitive rugby on the field while also playing hard off the field with an impressive yearly social calendar. Pub crawls, charity events, social gatherings and an off-season hockey team are only a few of the many facets of the Buccaneers club. Initially formed by a group of Toronto policemen, the club’s logo still bears the “billy clubs” emblem in honour of our past. The club also has a rich history of Alumni and Old Boys associated in both tour and social functions, and has a team Hall of Fame in recognition of outstanding past players and contributors to the club. The Buccaneers are one of the largest rugby clubs in the Toronto Rugby Union. We’re proud to be a rugby team with a ‘small club feel’ who treat our members like family. All skill levels are accepted into the club, only the desire to play hard on and off the field is required. Our club counts every single member as just as important, no matter your playing ability or experience. New players are always welcome and membership is available to join at any time throughout the season. The Buccaneers practice and play all home games at Sunnybrook Park located near Leslie and Eglinton Ave. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursday with games on Saturday. The season runs May through August, and sometimes into September. We field two men’s sides who compete in the TRU A and B divisions.
