About Bucerius Law Journal

The Bucerius Law Journal was founded in 2007 by students of Bucerius Law School in Hamburg (Germany). Apart from publishing articles written by professors and practitioners of the legal profession, we first and foremost want to offer students the opportunity to publish their papers. Our aim is to encourage reading and writing, to provide a platform for ideas and to open new perspectives. An issue of the Bucerius Law Journal usually contains an editorial, articles written by legal scholars and practitioners as well as ones written by students. We understand an editorial to be an opinionated article that deals with a current issue, inspiring the reader to think. Articles written by students are often based on very good seminar papers or bachelor theses which discuss current issues on a high scientific level and thereby contribute to the general debate. We focus on legal issues that arise in the German legal system and other jurisdictions. We constantly seek to include topics from the fields of public law, private law and criminal law. Since 2007, the Bucerius Law Journal has been further developed by the editors. Over the years, many students, research assistants and alumni of Bucerius Law School contributed to our concept. We thank everyone that supported the Bucerius Law Journal - whether by carrying out day-to-day operations, by publishing or as an editor.
