Buddha Cancer Centre has been started by Dr. Arvind Kumar, DM, MD – (Medical Oncology, AIIMS, Delhi) to serve his native people with evidence-based practice and a diagnosis and management that is on par with any Cancer centre in India. Dr. Arvind Kumar has been trained at AIIMS, New Delhi and during his training period at AIIMS, he had decided to return to Bihar and serve cancer patients in Bihar. He is the first person who pursued DM in Medical Oncology in Bihar. Dr Arvind decided to return to his native state after getting a DM degree in Medical Oncology and became the first person in Bihar to become an oncologist. he is the first cancer specialist doctor in Patna. The inspiration and vision to open a Cancer Hospital in Patna came from the suffering of Bihar Cancer patients at AIIMS, New Delhi. During his training phase, he noticed that approximately 35 - 40% of Cancer patients at AIIMS were from Bihar, though this figure might seem unimaginable this was the hard fact. Then, He decided to open a cancer specialist hospital and provide better facilities to the patients with an experienced team of cancer specialists in Patna. Poor patients and their attendants had to sleep on the pavement for months to get treatment. This was not only physically traumatic but also economically as the earning members had to leave home for their patient treatment. That’s why he decides to open a cancer treatment centre in Bihar, Patna. We are at Buddha Cancer Centre have decided to offer world-class diagnosis and treatment planning as per the proper research that even the poorest people can afford. The institution was established in 2013 with the mission to provide comprehensive care to cure cancer patients. Buddha Cancer Centre having more than 100 beds only for Cancer patients. The goal was to provide state of an art cure and care at an affordable cost. Patients from Bihar, Jharkhand, Nepal, Assam and Kolkata have access to multidisciplinary care at this centre.
