About Initiative on Forced Displacement

Mission: The Initiative on Forced Displacement provides a platform for research, pedagogy, and global engagement in an innovative and truly interdisciplinary manner. The initiative will foster multidisciplinary collaborations amongst faculty, students, and staff from across the multiple universities, engaging them in challenges of forced displacement, one of the major moral imperatives of our time. Through a tripartite mission focused on teaching, research, and service, the Initiative on Forced Displacement works to support Boston University’s laudable goal, recently articulated by President Robert Brown, of becoming the “most integrated research university in the country, one that seamlessly connects programs and people across our schools and colleges to create innovative programs and contribute to the solution of the challenges facing society.” Vision: IFD seeks to train the next generation of global leaders, support rigorous research, and develop strong local and international partnerships that will establish Boston University as a leader in interdisciplinary engagement with the crisis of forced displacement.
