Alvin Koay, the artist behind the unique Bulat-Bulat generative art collection is an entrepreneur and a self-taught contemporary artist who is best known for his intuitive style of painting. “Bulat-Bulat”, which means circles or round shapes in the local Malaysian language stems from the idea of how many circles can be packed into a given surface without overlapping or touching each other. It comes from the branch of mathematics called “circle packing”, where geometric circles of arbitrary sizes are packed together at various densities.
