Burns and wounds are of the most common traumatic and non-traumatic injuries. Every year in Iran, a considerable number of patients are referred to clinics and hospitals for burn and wound care due to a variety of causes including vehicle crashes, occupational accidents, and domestic accidents such as scalds and electrocution. Physical disabilities and psychological problems of burn and wound patients may cause social isolation and significantly impairs performance efficiency in individuals. Hence, the importance of prevention, treatment and management of burn and wound complications becomes more apparent. Shiraz Burn and Wound Healing Research Center was established in 2008 with the aim of promoting educational and research activities at different levels of prevention, advanced treatments and rehabilitation of burn and wound patients. It is also hoped to increase community awareness about the challenges faced by these patients.
