About Buros Center for Testing
The Buros Center for Testing operates as an independent, non-profit organization within the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The work of the Center serves to enhance the quality of tests and to provide evaluation services and research leadership. Housed in the Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Human Sciences, the Buros Center continues to pursue and fulfill its mission to improve the science and practice of testing and assessment. It offers mission-central publishing, programming, and consultation services that address testing, assessment, and measurement practices. Widely recognized as the world’s premier test review center, the Buros Center publishes the Mental Measurements Yearbook, Tests in Print, and Pruebas Publicadas en Español, reference series that are vital to the evaluation, selection, and use of tests. Available from EBSCO, the all-encompassing subscription database, Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print Internacional™, combines thousands of candid test reviews along with informative descriptions of tests published in English and Spanish. The Oscar K. Buros Library of Mental Measurements includes the world’s largest collection of commercially available educational and psychological tests. The Buros Center’s assessment literacy arm provides continuing education opportunities in assessment-related areas for psychologists, educators, and other professionals. The Center is approved to sponsor continuing education/professional development programming by the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists. Psychometric consultation services occur on a contractual basis and include sophisticated technical guidance and analyses appropriate for large-scale, high-stakes testing programs. The Buros Center’s test accreditation process offers an in-depth, systematic review of focused testing programs such as those involving professional licensing and certification examinations.
