Weaving is a popular form of art skill in Assam. It is a keeper of a large section of the rural families of the state along with being a unique cultural skill. So in order to preserve and promote it, Buta was born. It is not just an ordinary venture; rather it promotes women and their ability to stand on their own. From its very inception it has been backed and armored by many strong women. They are just like the pillar on which it stands, and we feel so fortunate to have them as team members.
Buta is the result tireless efforts and dedication. The founders of the venture ANGASIKHA GOGOI and Wazbeer Hussain have been earnestly working to create an exclusive and sustainable brand with the help of the local weavers, who make Buta what it is today, while empowering themselves in the process . ‘Buta’ a word of Assamese origin, meaning small delicate flowers weaved through the traditional style of weaving. The intricate designs when weaved seems just like the Galaxy of stars shinning right in the milkyway.
