► Our background
BW-Scaling ApS has been founded by Mr. Martin Andersen – well known in the industry for heading the development, approval process and operation of the DHI Ballast Water Centre in Singapore from 2010-2013 – and Dr. Peter Vittrup Christensen, CFD and process modelling expert – responsible for development of the modelling framework for ballast water treatment systems applied by DHI from 2013-2017.
► Combining fluid dynamics and process models
Our modelling approach is based on generic physico-chemical descriptions that are truly scalable due their intrinsic nature. BW-Scaling uses the COMSOL software platform which provides a unique combination of fluid dynamics and process models to address any scaling challenge whether systems are based on filtration, UV, chemical injection, heat treatment or any other treatment scheme. Model validations are carried out in close collaboration with existing test organizations, classification societies and Independent Laboratories.
► Software and hardware capacities
BW-Scaling has acquired the software and hardware capacities to address the increasing demand for independent scaling assessments following the approval of the “Code for approval of ballast water management systems” (BWMS Code) at IMO during MEPC 71 in July 2017.
We look forward to continuing our support to the ballast water industry to secure the availability of robust technologies to the shipping industry.
