By Proxy is a devised theatre company collaboratively imagining, exploring and performing near-future scenarios, in the period of the next 10-50 years. Our work is mainly concerned with technological acceleration and the shifts that it will bring into our day-to-day lives. We want to uncover the very human, miniature side of those abstract-feeling developments. Our process starts from research into and observations of the scientific, socio-political, and technological trends. We use them to formulate questions: ones that provoke us or ones that we can’t quite answer. We then bring those into a rehearsal room and transform them into personal and relatable, possible futures.
