BYATA - Backpacker Youth and Adventure Tourism Association

Since 2003, BYATA has been the independent voice of the backpacking and adventure travel industry in New Zealand. Our mission is to enhance the commercial viability of members by advocating for the backpacker, youth and adventure tourism sector. Our vision for our sector is to be the strongest within the New Zealand tourism industry. To achieve this vision, it is essential our industry works together to make sure the backpacking, youth and adventure travel sector is well promoted globally and regulated in a way which ensures the industry is profitable and sustainable for all. This can only be achieved by communicating with one another, discussing topics that directly affect us as tourism businesses and harnessing the power of our combined voices – including independent tour operators, accommodation providers, adventure activity operators, regional tourism bodies and travel networks.
