As students and faculty in the linguistics department at Brigham Young University, we have noticed that there is a lot of advice on the internet about best practices in social media marketing. However, the advice is so general that we wonder whether it really addresses how to use each platform as effectively as possible in various industries. Therefore, we decided to start a blog that presents our linguistic analyses of widely published best practices to see whether and how they apply to different occupations. Ultimately, we hope our analyses will provide unique insight into how to improve the social media marketing strategies of a variety of industries.
