The Center for Dissemination & Implementation At Stanford (C-DIAS) is working to advance the science of implementation and improve access to the best addiction treatments available.
C-DIAS uses implementation science to eliminate the three major gaps in addiction treatment:
Public Health Gap: Only 5% of people with substance use disorders receive treatment. This percentage is even lower when considering access to proven treatments, such as addiction medications. C-DIAS research projects and teams are focused on bringing the best of implementation science to improve access to the most effective addiction treatments available.
Scientific Gap: As a newer discipline, implementation science is still developing rigor and precision in methods and measures. C-DIAS assembles expert faculty and fellows to design and test new methods, improve existing ones, and aims to create practical tools for scientists and health care practitioners to use in their work.
Expert Capacity Gap: Especially in addiction health services, the need for expertise in implementation science methods is significant. C-DIAS offers a range of free education and training programs, from weekly virtual grand rounds to a two-year fellowship. The goal is to increase implementation science knowledge and skills so more people can tackle the longstanding problems in access to addiction health care services.
