Computers for kids is an award winning Non-profit organisation in The Mid-Sussex area of the UK founded by Colin Hill.
We collect old and donated computer devices such as Laptops, Mobile phones, Tablets and PCs, any device that a child can utilise to learn remotely, stay connected with their friends and family as-well-as for entertainment purposes. This also helps to close the digital divide and gives these children equal opportunities as the rest of society, and helps to improve equality.
We are currently going through the registration process to become a C.I.C, which could take several months. This also means we have no funding from any company, bank or government source at the present time. To try and combat this so we are able to carry on with the initiative, we have formed partnerships to be able to come as far as we have.
SEBS IT of Haywards Heath is one of the key partners who have donated us office space to be able to expand the amount we can prepare and store to help many hundreds more children.
Also, we have partnered with BT, supplying us with vouchers for free bandwidth to help those families with connectivity issues such as being unable to afford the internet due to very low income or low bandwidth, making it to slow or impossible to do any work online. Other Key partnerships are with Rapha the world renowned cycling clothing company and 1st central insurance and technology group. They have kindly offered to supply the cause with their Old windows systems every time they update them. Also, companies such as Lucidica among other have made the same commitment to support the community.
Beyond the partnership with BT, we are also partnered with many schools and also the charitable organisation TKAT, that governs many schools through the south-east along with multiple councils and community outreach programmes.
