About Cabaret Direct

"Think when we talk of horses, that you see them, printing their proud hoofs i' the receiving earth; For 'tis your thoughts that now must deck our kings, adorn, carry them here and there; jumping o'er times, turning the accomplishment of many years into an hour-glass." Prologue to Henry V by William Shakespeare. Receiving Earth Productions (formerly Cabaret Direct) have been producing small scale touring theatre since 2001. From drama, their first show was an adaptation of Camus' The Fall, through cabaret (A Little Yearning : the songs of Brel, Eisler, Weill & others), through musical theatre (Catching the Sun : a new musical by Tom Armstrong & Stephanie McKnight which premièred at the Guildford Festival ), through revue (Snobs, Nobs & Yobs : A history of British satire), through comedy (The Theatre of Sex), to their current revival of Diary of a Nobody, an adaptation of the classic comic Victorian novel, which received 4 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We changed our name to Receiving Earth as we felt it more accurately represented both the literary nature of our shows, and also our production values!
