Born at Cornell University, Cabrera Research Lab (CRL) is a theoretical and empirical research lab focused on the deep structure of thought and the systems of the real world. We investigate how cognition organizes information, and how this structure mirrors the systems found in nature—from ecosystems and organizations to scientific theories and social behavior.
Our goal is to understand and model how the human mind works, not in isolation, but as part of the natural world.
We study cognition as a structural system—a system that shapes and is shaped by the physical, biological, and social systems it seeks to understand. Our work is grounded in systems theory, cognitive and neuroscience science, and formal modeling.
