CAFBA is the peak professional body for Commercial Finance brokers in Australia. Members conduct the majority of their business in the fields of commercial equipment, property and business financing and play an important role in assisting with the access to finance for small and medium-sized businesses. According to research conducted by East & Partners (2017) broker sourced finance for commercial equipment hit a new record high of 67.3% of total financing in this sector. CAFBA • benefits from over 80 major equipment and commercial financiers and like-minded organisations who support and strengthen CAFBA as Affiliate Members; • deals with financiers and legislators at a national level and regularly seeks the views of members; • prides itself on being self-regulating; and • maintains strict membership standards on probity, continuing professional development, minimum education standards and industry experience and reputation. Frequently sought by the media on industry related issues CAFBA is very well regarded and highly respected in the lobbying environment. CAFBA's four strategic pillars, to ensure the sustainability and vibrancy of our association, are: 1. To professionalise commercial finance broking; 2. To develop CAFBA’s education program; 3. To attract more diverse entrants into the profession Over the past few years CAFBA have lodged submissions on: • Small Business and Access to Credit; • Privacy Amendment Bill; • NCCP Phase 2; • Inquiry into Family Business in Australia; • Discussion Paper on NCCP Exemption of Retailers; • Productivity Commission Issues Paper – Regulator Engagement with Small Business CAFBA continues to proactively lobby governments at all levels on behalf of its members.
