At CALIBR8.ME our mission is to build better training that meets the needs of smaller, Canadian CPA practitioners and their main street, small business clients. We believe that the accounting profession in Canada has lost its way and primarily serves the needs of the largest CPA firms, 10 of which accounted for 46% of the revenue of the more than 30,000 firms in the accounting industry (2019). Shifting demographics have resulted in a significant increase in older accounting practitioners. According to a 2020 study by K2E CANADA INC, more than 56% of practitioners are at least 55 years of age and 22% are at least 65 years of age. What’s more it is also becoming almost impossible to attract – or even train – the next generation of practitioner.
