The Caltech Angels Network (CAN) was founded in 2019 as a non-profit and volunteer effort with a mission to connect Caltech entrepreneurs with fellow alumni angel investors spread across the globe. CAN’s network includes more than 60 investors including venture capitalists, angel investors, and serial entrepreneurs. CAN organizes regular virtual pitch events where selected early stage startups, often deep-tech, present to the investor network. All investors make their respective investment decisions. So far,
18 startups that have presented have raised a total of around $100 million from CAN and non-CAN investors. CAN investors in particular have written checks totaling an estimated $1-$2 million, often very early.
