About Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in Oregon (CAMCOR)
Our goal is to help clients understand their materials better, whether that means determining why they are under-performing or identifying their structure or chemistry at a submicron-subnanometer scale. Close relationships with our customers allow us to make certain their needs are accurately identified, and the most effective technique is utilized to answer their questions. Once results are in hand, we work diligently with clients to ensure they fully understand their data. As a multi-disciplinary research facility at the University of Oregon, our team has experience with materials from nearly every scientific discipline. Many difficult projects are true collaborative efforts across our group of experts who bring decades of knowledge to the table. We also operate a master’s program (AMAC), training students to be characterization specialists and providing interns to many of our clients. Services offered include: • High-resolution electron microscopy & microanalysis: Titan TEM, SEM, EPMA & associated analytical equipment for studying features ranging in length scale from centimeter to subatomic, morphology, & elemental composition • Focused ion beam microscopy: Site-specific material removal, deposition, & imaging for micro & nanofabrication, TEM sample prep, cross-sectional investigation, & elemental composition. We house a multi-ion source plasma-FIB & a Helios FIB-SEM • Surface analysis: Characterization of the surface & near-surface chemical composition of solid materials. The lab houses instrumentation for XPS, ToF-SIMS, Auger, AFM, FTIR & Raman spectroscopy • Small molecule & polymer characterization: Liquid and solid-state NMR, TGA, DSC, Rheometry & specific instruments for characterizing molecular constituents, as well as thermal & mechanical properties of materials • X-ray analysis: Equipment for determining the crystalline nature of thin-film, powder, & single crystal materials. The lab also houses small angle x-ray & x-ray fluorescence equipment
