Staff of the Centre for Advanced Materials Manufacturing and Design (CAMMD) are nationally and internationally established in the fields of high performance materials, advanced manufacturing, and innovative design.
Our expertise and capabilities in these fields was developed over nearly 40 years of research, CAMMD being formed by amalgamating three successful existing centres, the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials (CACM), the Plastics Centre of excellence (PCoE), and the Creative Design for Additive Manufacturing Laboratory (CDAM). More than 60 staff and postgraduate students are based at a unique facility on the Newmarket Campus, including approximately 4,000m² of large, open plan laboratories, with a range of specialised analysis, manufacturing and testing equipment.
Our work balances both fundamental and applied research, and our staff are enjoy collaboration with a wide range of industrial and academic partners.
