Camp Nomad is an eco-friendly retreat center and campsite, located in an apple orchard, surrounded by a Deodar forest, and with majestic views of the snow-capped Himalayas. We are only 15 km from Shimla, and a whole world away!
We have mud houses with bay windows and tiled washrooms, basic and Swiss tents, fire-pits, an open-air Baithak, and a cafe and co-working space. We are open to guests year-round, and we specialise in hosting groups, workshops, artist retreats, trainings, adventure trips, corporate off-sites, and residencies.
Sustainability is at the core of all of our design decisions at Camp Nomad, from choosing to build with mud and set up tents so as to minimise concrete, to hiring a geological consultant to make sure we don't disrupt traditional water channels, to working on permaculture and natural farming in our orchards. We have started a composting program in June 2024, and we are working towards becoming fully rainwater dependent by 2025. All of our guest amenities (toiletries, garbage bags, tissues, cleaning products etc) are sustainably sourced and 100% biodegradable, and our cafe partners with several organic small businesses for our tea, coffee, chocolate, and cheese.
We also pride ourselves on being one of the only wheelchair accessible spaces in the mountains around us, with our cafe, common washrooms, and two of our mud huts built on universal design principles. With advance notice, we can also work around all kinds of food allergies and dietary needs.
