Cardinal Formula Racing

Cardinal Formula Racing (CFR), a faculty-led student racing team, stands out as one of the best undergraduate Formula SAE teams globally. Engaged in the Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Collegiate Design Series (CDS) competitions, CFR is committed to the conception, design, construction, and racing of small Indy-style racecars. Renowned for our excellence, CFR proudly competes in the Formula SAE, recognized as the most prestigious student design competition on a global scale. Within Cardinal Formula Racing, students gain invaluable hands-on learning experiences inside and outside the classroom. Participants take on the complete process of building a race car, culminating in the intense competition of the Formula SAE Collegiate Competition Series held in May. As one of the best undergraduate Formula SAE teams, our reputation is strengthened by our active participation in the Formula SAE series—comprising nine international events and featuring over 300 student-led teams worldwide. Embracing a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to competition, our SVSU team involves students from engineering, accounting, and marketing disciplines. This collaborative effort ensures that we remain at the forefront of excellence as one of the best undergraduate Formula SAE teams in the world.
