Carina Medical is a MedTech startup focused on developing innovative medical technologies to Close the Gap. Currently there is an 8-year life expectancy difference between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. A big driver of this life expectancy gap is the inaccessibility of specialist healthcare. 62% of Indigenous Australians live in remote communities, where the nearest hospital can be an 18-hour drive away. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of the life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. We at Carina Medical are developing cutting-edge wearable technology that performs automatic cardiovascular disease monitoring in remote settings.
