Cart IoT was founded in November 2024 by Roy Johnson. Roy spent nearly 10 years as a volunteer FireFighter/EMT and has experienced firsthand the devastation a house fire can bring. He is also an avid cart enthusiast living in a community where a cart is many people’s primary transportation.
Prior to founding Cart IoT Roy spent his career working in the defense and security industries holding roles in manufacturing, test engineering, product management, business development, technology standards, and embedded systems. He has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Florida State University and is a graduate of the prestigious CORe program from Harvard Business School.
Roy recently served on two of the most important Boards in the IoT industry; the Connectivity Standards Alliance - creators of the Zigbee and Matter smart-home standards and the FiRa consortium focusing on Ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning technology. He has worked together with some of the largest companies in the world to shape the future of IoT for good. Roy is a named inventor on an issued patent for work related to physical access control and wireless technology.
