Hello - I’m Joe Carter. I’m a Professional Electrical Engineer with nearly 30 years of experience; PE since 2000. Experience: My last five years, have been working in the Federal market with Etegra; prior to this, I worked eight in Retail with Casco, seven years in Financial with NewGround, seven years in Healthcare with Heideman Associates (Zak Companies). I also have experience with solar, hotels, dwelling units, education and I am currently working on a Cathodic Protection design job. Today’s technology simplifies Engineering design via video chat with Microsoft Teams and share screens or pdfs in Bluebeam (by REVU). Bluebeam provides collaboration on a design package by all disciplines simultaneously. The days of printing out a set of drawings and meeting to review relines in the conference room are OVER! In addition to Professional design work, I am a Mentor. I’ve supervised many Engineers and Designers. How much time is spent really depends on the individual. My mentoring style is to start with discussing the tasks, then review progress. As the relationship develops, assignments extend to multi-day tasks with extended review time. If very green like right out of school, assignments may be a few hours. My job is to download my years of experience into your young engineer’s and/or designer’s brain.
