The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Pension Plan (the Plan) was established by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) effective September 1, 1961, pursuant to the Broadcasting Act. The Plan is primarily a contributory defined benefit pension plan covering substantially all employees of the Corporation.The Plan is federally regulated and is governed by the provisions of the Pension Benefits Standards Act (the "Act"), and the Regulations thereof.
The assets of the Plan are administered by the CBC Pension Board of Trustees by virtue of the Trust Deed between the CBC and the Trustees. The primary purpose of the Plan is to provide defined benefits for its members in accordance with the Trust Deed and other documents from time to time describing the Plan.
Le Régime de retraite de Radio-Canada (le Régime) a été constitué le 1er septembre 1961 par la Société Radio-Canada (CBC/Radio-Canada) en vertu de la Loi sur la radiodiffusion. Le Conseil de fiducie de la Caisse de retraite de Radio-Canada en vertu de l’Acte de fiducie conclue entre CBC/Radio-Canada et le Conseil de fiducie. Le principal objectif du Régime consiste à offrir des prestations déterminées aux participants conformément au libellé du Régime et aux autres documents qui le décrivent.
