Christian Community Action (CCA) is a charity that seeks to demonstrate God’s love by providing practical support to alleviate furniture poverty in Reading as we support our diverse community while also promoting sustainability.
CCA has helped numerous people across Reading since 1992. Our most urgent cases are those people in crisis who come to us with temporary accommodation containing no furniture and may be fleeing domestic violence, refugees and those in crisis
CCA reuses donated items as much as possible and since starting our mission we have saved roughly 2000 Tons of furniture from going into landfill. However, that need is growing and we don't get enough donated items to meet everyone's need so sometimes we need to buy beds, and even though items of essential furniture may have been donated there is a cost to us to collect, store and redeploy these items.
