CDFIN’s trauma-informed, strengths-based care empowers clients to identify their strengths, thereby fostering the development of positive coping skills. CDFIN’s services include: safety from physical harm and re-traumatization; an understanding of the trauma survivor as a consumer of mental health care; an understanding that symptoms are contextual and vary according to life experience and culture; and an understanding that symptoms are adaptive attempts to cope and survive the traumatic event(s) rather than maladaptive behaviors. CDFIN is a trauma competent capacity building network. The heart of CDFIN is to connect with the individual and to facilitate redirection of behavior. CDFIN - is involved in Individual Counselling, Group Therapy, Expressive Art, Creative Play to enhance the redirection of behavior.
