Le CdL est une asbl créée en 1964 et est actif dans le secteur agricole et agro-alimentaire. Il est accrédité selon les normes ISO 17025, ISO 17020 et ISO 17065 et est agréé par l'AFSCA et la RW.
Son nom complet « Comité du Lait » traduit sa mission initiale et historique qui était au service de la qualité de la production laitière en Wallonie.
Il a cependant développé et diversifié ses activités au fil du temps pour être actif aujourd’hui dans tous les secteurs de la production agricole et de l’agro-alimentaire via les 3 Services, correspondant aux 3 métiers/activités suivants :
- CdLLab :
*Laboratoire lait cru : dont la mission est la détermination de la qualité et de la composition du lait cru.
*Laboratoire denrées alimentaires : réalisation des analyses microbiologiques et physico-chimiques sur toutes denrées alimentaires.
- CdLTech : Les techniciens effectuent divers types d’interventions en exploitations laitières (amélioration de la qualité du lait, testages des machines à traire et des tanks à lait, audits traites,...) et sur les camions de récolte du lait.
- CdLCertif : Le Service certification réalise des audits selon les cahiers des charges tous secteurs : Vegaplan, BelBeef, BePork, IPM, guide sectoriel pour la production primaire (G040), QFL, BIO, OGM-free, DECIDE,... et d'autres.
