Social aging is one of the greatest challenges for welfare societies in the 21st century. Favorable living conditions ensure a longer and longer life, we can live longer and longer. A parallel phenomenon is that young people, pushing their youth, are having fewer and fewer children. As a result, the social strata of the elderly are becoming wider. Due to the shifting stages of life, a new stage of life has emerged, the age of aging, which is roughly between 50 and 65 years. The CédrusNet Program focuses primarily on this age group. In terms of the labor market, this age group is still active, as it is about to retire, but in many respects, it can no longer compete with the younger generations, and in many cases is therefore at a disadvantage. It is clear that this age group needs to develop a new life strategy. The so-called "Active Aging Index", which examines the situation of older people in each country on a year-by-year basis, provides basic help in defining the challenges facing societies: - Employment - Social participation - Independent, healthy, and safe living - Ability and supportive environment for active living It is clear from the annual reports issued by the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) and the European Commission (Active Aging Index 2018) that Eastern European states are lagging behind at the end of the line in terms of certain factors. The CédrusNet Program © is a social innovation that aims to influence the areas covered by the Active Aging Index, ie to support independent, healthy aging people. The experience of the aging or senior age group accumulated over many decades and the abilities that become much stronger for this stage of life - such as insight, problem-solving - values that society desperately needs, so we need and can find areas where these can be harnessed.
