Conservation, Environmental and Inclusive Biological Research

The conservation, environmental and inclusive biological research (CEIBR) group is a community of biological professionals, students and enthusiasts working collectively to mitigate social inequalities and discrimination in the biological science industry. CEIBR pronounced ‘Cyber’ aims to provide resources, training and opportunities for members of the biological sciences community who face ‘discriminatory’ barriers in their scientific career, for example, due to disabilities, gender or ethnic background. A ‘recent’ study in 2021 published in Nature found there remains an excessive rate of discrimination in the science profession, with power imbalances, bullying and gender discrimination ranked in the top three experienced and observed in the workplace (Woolston, 2021).
