Dans le cadre de son projet intitulé « Transformation numérique inclusive en vue d’accélérer la marche vers les ODD », le Programme des Nations Unis pour le Développement (PNUD) a financé l’Institut Supérieur de Génie Electrique du Burkina Faso (ISGE-BF), à travers son incubateur appelé Centre d’Entrepreneuriat et d’Innovation Technologique (CEINTECH), afin d’organiser un Hackathon et accompagner les meilleurs projets digitaux.
C’est dans cette veine qu’il a été décidé de s’attaquer aux challenges des villes. En effet, le Smart City Innovation Challenge est un Hackathon conçu pour aider à mieux gérer nos villes et relever les défis posés par l'urbanisation exponentielle. Le Smart city Challenge est un « Hackathon » où les participants développeront des projets qui utilisent la technologie pour répondre aux problèmes de la société.
