Celestial is a new business that has been established to bring innovative solutions to the UK and European insurance sector. It will act as a specialist provider of customised risk transfer programmes to insurers and reinsurers seeking to reduce their exposure to Periodical Payment Order (PPO) liabilities and similar obligations. Founded by a group of highly experienced industry professionals, Celestial aims to apply life insurance principles and practices to the management of PPO and similar risks over the very long term. Its objective is to help its (re)insurance customers optimise their capital management, reduce risk and focus on their core business. Celestial has applied for authorisation in a highly regarded and well regulated European Union jurisdiction from which it will operate across different markets, including the UK. As such it will be subject to the EU's stringent Solvency II regulatory regime which is designed to enhance consumer protection and ensure that companies adopt governance and risk management practices that are of a very high standard.
