Celtrose Consultancy, through co-creation with the disabled community, designs practical activities and bespoke resources to enhance the skills of careers advisers, self-employment advisers and work coaches when working with disabled clients. Celtrose Consultancy was launched in January 2021 when Sam started on her PhD journey. Her research study about how neurodivergent people choose self-employment as an option, and their experiences of formal self-employment support led her to further explore the skill base of both careers and business advisers. Celtrose Consultancy is a Level 3 Disability Confident Leader company and a business with a growing track record for sharing research into disability employment / self-employment and subsequent best practice techniques. Sam believes that exposing careers and business advisers to best practice techniques when working with disabled people will allow them to develop their knowledge and skills. This will ultimately help the advisers to remove any perceived barriers and communication challenges when offering formal support to disabled people. The knowledge and experience we share is delivered in various formats to demonstrate how different people learn and the types of accessible resources which can be used. To ensure the highest quality of learning and development, we work with key partners in the education, employment and charity sectors. We combine their expertise with that of disabled people in order to stimulate economic growth in the local area and social cohesion within the community. We promote a culture of collaboration between local support agencies, disabled people and advisers, building on many examples of best practice.
