With a strong focus on quantitative impact evaluations and mixed-method analyses, we are one of the leading research centers in the areas of poverty reduction, microfinance, health insurance, education, humanitarian assistance, and nutrition in Germany. Our vision is a world where evidence-based, transparent, and accountable development solutions ensure sustainability and deliver meaningful, inclusive impact for all. C4ED is currently conducting projects all over the world and maintains research relationships with 3ie, ACTED, IFAD, ILO, IPA, J-PAL, the World Bank, and UNICEF to name just a few of our cooperation partners.
C4ED has numerous Research Affiliates and Research Fellows from reknowned universities all over the world.
C4ED was founded by Prof. Dr. Markus Frölich who is full professor of Econometrics (Chair of Econometrics) at the University of Mannheim in Germany, as well as a permanent guest professor at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He obtained his Ph.D. in economics in 2002 from the University of St. Gallen. From 2008 to 2011, he was director of the research program “Employment and Development” at the World Bank and the Institute for the Study of Labor.
