About Centre for Contemporary Folklore
The Centre for Contemporary Folklore (CCF) is a flagship venture of ParrotHouse Foundation for Folklore Preservation, a not-for-profit organization registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. CCF is committed to preserving, promoting, and celebrating India’s rich oral and cultural traditions of folklore. Our mission is to celebrate intangible culture passed down through generations, ensuring these invaluable traditions are not lost amidst rapid social change. At CCF, we view folklore as a living, evolving aspect of our culture, continuously shaping and being shaped by the world around us. Our approach is multifaceted, focusing on dissemination, preservation, and advocacy. We showcase the richness of Indian folklore through curated content, interactive events, and collaborative projects with like-minded organizations and institutions. We work to bridge the gap between scholarly inquiry and community-based knowledge systems, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange. By preserving and archiving Indian folktales, we collaborate with communities nationwide to collect, record, and catalog folklore with academic rigor, utilizing both digital platforms and traditional archival methods. Our goal is to ensure that the traditions, beliefs, and customs that have shaped India’s cultural identity for generations continue to thrive and inspire future generations.
