Serena Foundation is a charity aimed at providing specialized, sustainable and comprehensive care for neuromuscular patients, developed around the innovative service concept of NeMO® (NeuroMuscular Omnicenter, www.centrocliniconemo.it). NeMO is a new patient-centered model of care based on a multiprofessional and interdisciplinary approach where all clinical services for neuromuscular disorders are available in a single medical center, so that patients and their families do not move around to be given appropriate care.
Owned by patient associations themselves (UILDM, AISLA, Associazione Famiglie SMA, SLAnciamoci and Telethon Foundation as a research partner), Serena Foundation is currently running 3 specialised medical centers in Italy and new openings are being planned in the upcoming years while another facility, NeMO SUD Messina, is managed by the twin charity Aurora Foundation. NeMO is a brand of excellence nationwide, powered by a unique mix of enthusiasm, science and care.
