With two studios in London, Centroid boasts one of the industry’s largest and most advanced independent Performance Capture facilities trading in Europe. Established in 1996 and with over a quarter of a century of experience Centroid offers full optical, inertial, and head-mounted camera solutions to suit the ever evolving digital character pipeline requirements of the entertainment industries. As live-action and virtual production pipelines progress and align, Centroid continues to develop internal solutions for the live pre-visualization of actor performances within digital assets and plates, utilizing virtual studio environments. Centroid’s Full Performance Capture pipelines are capable of recording up to 10+ performers simultaneously and we can facilitate a comprehensive list of complimentary partner services such as audio recording, performer casting, prop and set design, and stunt and rig coordination. From production pre-visualization to finished post-production animation, along with a strict secure data environment, we ensure we deliver on time, to the highest quality and with project security guaranteed. In-house software ‘Trimmer’ enables clients to analyse all previs and video reference material simultaneously (time synced and cost automated) before ordering captures. An inventory of 240 hi-resolution optical cameras allows Centroid to shoot on location simultaneously to in-house. Offering both truss mounted and tri-pod configurations, bespoke performance volumes to capture animals, or shoots in more unusual environments such as ice rinks, equestrian centres, and tennis courts In 2018, in collaboration with Famous Studios, Centroid opened India's First Performance Capture and Virtual Production Studio in Mumbai and Centroid India was established. After successfully completing a number of high profile projects, the Covid pandemic hit, the world went into lockdown, and Centroid India was sadly put on ice.
