Civil and Environmental Postgraduate Coursework Association (CEPCA)

Description: The club caters to the Postgraduate Coursework students of The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW. It creates a community among the students to interact and benefit from each other. The club organises events that help students in starting their careers such as networking events, industry insights, and job application workshops. The club also hosts social events to bring together students, interact with each other and have fun! CEPCA’s key focus is to enhance students experience whilst studying at university by providing platforms for them to interact and gain knowledge from each other and recent alumni. Objectives: 1. To build a community and develop a network among the Civil and Environmental Postgraduate Coursework students. 2. Organise events for postgraduate students to contribute to the enhancement of their professional and scholastic goals. 3. Provide students with the opportunity to network with industry professionals and develop their career. Events: - Industry insights: Speakers from the industry provide an insight into the various facets of the Civil and Environmental Engineering sector in Australia, their scopes and how students can get the edge when it comes to seeking jobs. The foregoing also includes: Resumes, cover letters, job interviews and the usage of LinkedIn and other social media networks within an industrial setting. - Networking: Most professional engineering jobs are never advertised. These are filled by engineers contacting people in their network. The aim of this event is to emphasise the importance of networking and instruct students on how to be good at it so that they can be more aware of these opportunities. - Job application: This event brings together recent graduates from Postgraduate Master's programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering who share their experiences and give insights into job seeking, career progression, characteristics of the engineering sector in Australia, etc.
