L’association « l’Atelier » est implantée en Alsace, dans le Bas-Rhin, depuis 1981. Son projet fondateur – qui a inspiré son nom – est le soutien à l’insertion sociale et professionnelle par la promotion d’activités en lien avec le monde du travail.
L’association gère depuis ses débuts un centre de formation et elle a porté, durant les vingt-cinq dernières années, plusieurs projets locaux qui sont aujourd’hui des structures autonomes dans le champ de l’insertion : une régie de quartier, une structure d’accueil et deux entreprises d’insertion.
