Changing Places NZ

Changing Places NZ is a registered Charity, advocating for, educating about and designing bespoke high specification public bathrooms for those who can't use the standard accessible facilities usually offered. Led by families who need these rooms, Changing Places NZ are the only SMEs in this field in Aotearoa - we know them because we need them! We are the only Changing Places worldwide to have been recognised with a global Innovation and Design Award and have built a solid and proven framework of security and support for asset owners and users alike. A Changing Places bathroom is much more than an accessible toilet. It is a place where people with multiple or complex disabilities can get changed in a safe, clean environment. It has facilities for toileting, showering, and changing for adults or children who may need more than one caregiver with them. The Changing Places symbol shows an accessible toilet, a ceiling hoist, an adult-sized changing table, and a caregiver assistant. This symbol is used to indicate a Changing Places bathroom, in the same way that standard symbols are used to indicate a toilet, accessible toilet, or baby changing station. The Changing Places name and logo are registered trademarks of Changing Places New Zealand (Changing Places NZ) for exclusive use in New Zealand. We're building a nationwide network of these fabulous rooms - all accessed by a single electronic tag. Instead of "better than nothing", we aim for "nothing better"!
