Character Type

Character Type creates retail and custom typefaces for both small and international brands. Henning Skibbe and his team are based in Hamburg, Germany. We are specialized in designing extended typeface families. NewsSans contains 90 styles. Our work for Süddeutsche Zeitung has 50+ styles in seven subfamilies. And NewsSerif has 20 styles in three categories. Having worked many years in branding end editorial we know well what is needed from a typeface. Hence we know how to best turn a typeface into a smoothly working typographic tool. We work with branding agencies and/or brands directly. In the past Character Type has worked with some of the largest German design agencies such as Strichpunkt Design, Jung von Matt and Kolle Rebbe. We have also worked directly with brands: Süddeutsche Zeitung, OTTO, Schwäbisch Hall, MedienUnion and many more.
